Hi, Iā€™m Leslie Autery.

I have been a professional calligrapher for more than 40 years. I learned calligraphy during high school while working for a calligraphy studio, The New Scribes, as a junior graphics designer. Then while in college I started a calligraphy business in Chico, California called Dance of the Pen. We specialized in menus, wedding invitations, signs and illustrations. In the late 70s, after college, calligraphy went through a tough time as desk top publishing came along and the art of hand lettering became a bit obsolete. In the early 2000s, calligraphy started reappearing as many folks were looking for more artistic forms of lettering than the computer generated fonts. Modern Calligraphy has boomed and today it seems to be in the fore front of calligraphy. My first love is broad nib calligraphy but I have embraced and fallen in love with pointed pen and modern calligraphy.

As well as calligraphy, I am a lettering artist, painter, sign maker, and illustrator. I love working in most mediums and would love to hear from you.

If not out and about with my wonderful husband Ron and our dog Jojo or in my garden with the chickens, I can be found in my studio. Love, Leslie
